Diet and the Dachshund
Check out why we feed what we feed and the proper way to do it. Getting our dogs healthy and keeping them that way is critical to all of us here at DRBC.
How to Clean My Doxies Ears
Some doxies will come to us with dirty and infected ears. We will start the process of getting that initial filth cleaned up, but continual cleaning and application of prescribed medication will be important too. Here is how we accomplish that.
Clipping A Doxies Nails
We offer this service to all of our Foster and GrandPaws puppers and are more than willing to help your dogs too, but we realize that many people may want to try this themselves or may attempt to go to a groomer. Be sure it is done properly - so if it is not being done the way we are showing you, it should not be done to one of our doxies. Improper nail cutting is why so many doxies are so terrified of this procedure.
Vectra 3D
DRBC uses Vectra 3D as its official flea and tick medication for all Foster and GrandPaw doxie and doxie mixes in our charge. You can obtain this medication in the Foster/GP Store and should use it from April through October unless otherwise instructed by the medical team. Please watch this instructive video by our friends at Ceva on how this product should be applied.
Heartworm Medication
DRBC uses Tri-Heart Plus on a monthly basis for all Foster and GrandPaw doxie and doxie mixes in our charge. This medication can be ordered in the Foster/GP Store and should be dispenses monthly in dinner to avoid stomach upset. Please remember, you are treating the month that has just passed and are not preventing anything. This video will help to explain.
