Diet and the Dachshund

Check out why we feed what we feed and the proper way to do it. Getting our dogs healthy and keeping them that way is critical to all of us here at DRBC.

Effitix Flea and Tick Protection

DRBC uses Effitix as its official flea and tick medication for all Foster and GrandPaw doxie and doxie mixes in our charge. You can obtain this medication in the Foster/GP Store and should use it from April through October unless otherwise instructed by the medical team. Please watch this instructive video by our friends at Virbac on how this product should be applied.

Heartworm Medication

DRBC uses Tri-Heart Plus on a monthly basis for all Foster and GrandPaw doxie and doxie mixes in our charge. This medication can be ordered in the Foster/GP Store and should be dispenses monthly in dinner to avoid stomach upset. Please remember, you are treating the month that has just passed and are not preventing anything. This video will help to explain.

Urine Catch for A Male

You may be asked to bring a sample of urine for testing. This video demonstrates how to do a urine catch for a male. Please remember:

Morning urine provides the best results.
Samples must be tested within 6 hours to insure accurate results.
Samples must be refrigerated in a clean closed container prior to transfer to DRBC.
